This coffee grinder is louder than my vacuum cleaner...and if you forget to grind your coffee the day before and have to grind some at 6am, it is not terribly pleasant. Also, beware if you live in an apt building...you may wake the neighbors. The grinder is also big, there is no place for the cord, and it can be a bit of a mess. We had ours for 9 months and it broke yesterday morning. I have to say I was THRILLED when it finally died (we only ground coffee in it once or twice a week) but now I finally have an excuse to buy one that does not make a deafening sound. Yay!

Mr. Coffee's best mill but beware of warranty (no replace...

We always grind our own coffee and we loved this mill (which replaced our Braun mill that we had for a few years). Well, within a year of warranty, the thing broke down and after contacting Mr. Coffee, they couldn't replace it with the same mill, since they do not make this one anymore. They replaced it with the new model (Coffee Grinder model IDS77), which is a bad example of anything that Mr. Coffee would put their name on. Besides, there is no comparison in prices, so we are on our own to replace. I complained about the replacement model after using it a few times (I wanted to give it a chance) and they offered me a 10 cup coffee maker instead. I'm pretty disappointed with Mr. Coffee and Sunbeam, their parent company. [...] Best of luck.

The only thing lacking from this coffee grinder is that the storage area should be opaque to preserve the beans. Otherwise it's great. You can set the amount and coarseness of the beans. Granted, it is a little noisy, but all grinder are. And for all the perks (no pun intended) it's definitely worth the price. You could go elsewhere and spend as much as $300 on a grinder, but unless you're some coffee bean expert, this one will suit all your grinding needs.

Loud and Messy

This grinder is very loud. So, loud our neighbors can hear us grinding from outside. The canister that holds the grounds gets a lot of static, therefore, when you open the lid the grounds explode out. One final criticism is, Mr. Coffee says to use 2 tablespoons for every 5 ounces of coffee, whereas our coffee bag says 2 tablespoons for every 6 ounces. It makes measuring a pain too! I give it 1 star because it does work.

I've had this grinder for about 15 months now. I'm back here tonight to buy another one for my office.
The grind is consistent, the coffee is good. I make enough coffee for my 20-oz travel mug each morning and occasionally a cup at night and I only have to refill the hopper every 1-2 weeks.
My only complaint is that it's hard to keep clean. The ground coffee tends to cake on one side of the cup. I try to wash it in the morning before I head out to work so it will be dry for the next day because any moisture whatsoever will only make it worse.
I've used better machines but they cost a whole lot more money - for the price this can't be beat.

This grinder vibrates when on and grinds come ut of the sides when its on. It is also extremely loud and it seems to take a long time to grind just a few beans. Other than that, it does work.

I loved this grinder until it just stopped working about 3 months after i bought it. I contacted Mr. Coffee and they were great about sending me a replacement. Then 4 months later, the second stopped working.

I was really thrilled with it at first, I love being able to store the beans up top..and grind when needed. But after a couple of weeks, all I got was a very course grind..there are huge chunks that don't get ground up. I am returning it, and putting the money toward a higher quality machine. Don't buy this.

I've had this grinder for a year, and it works great. I use it for regular coffee and espresso. Grind is better than I get it done at the coffee house.
